How credits work
No subscriptions. No surprises. You buy credits and spend them as you send.
One credit = one SMS segment
A standard SMS is 160 characters. Longer messages use more segments, so a long SMS to one person may cost more than one credit. We always show the count before you send.
Credits never expire
Buy once, use whenever. Your balance stays in your wallet until you spend it — no monthly clock, no forfeiting unused credits.
Bigger top-ups, better rates
Your rate is set by your top-up band. The more credits you buy at once, the lower your cost per SMS — automatically.
Send under your own name
Request a branded sender ID (your school, church or business name) so recipients know exactly who's texting. Approval typically takes 2–5 working days. A small maintenance fee applies per network, billed separately from your credits.

Do credits really never expire?
Correct. Once credits are in your wallet they stay there until you send messages. There is no monthly fee, no subscription and no expiry date, and a balance bought at one rate keeps its value when you later top up at another.
Why does a long message cost more than one credit?
Networks bill SMS in segments, and one credit pays for one segment to one number. A message of up to 160 standard characters is one segment; longer messages are split into parts of 153 characters each. Emoji, curly quotes and some accented letters switch the whole message to Unicode, where a segment holds 70 characters (67 per part).
The opt-out line ("To opt out, contact the sender") counts towards the length when it is added, by default on the first message each number receives from you. The composer shows the segment count and the cost, footer included, before you send, and Quick edits can trim a message back to one segment.
Which networks can I reach?
Every Ugandan mobile number (+256 7…): MTN, Airtel and the other Ugandan mobile networks. The price per segment is the same on every network, and numbers are checked and labelled by network when you import them. International numbers are not supported yet.
How do I move to a better rate?
Each top-up is priced on its own amount. A top-up qualifies for a band when the credits it buys at that band's rate reach the band's minimum, and you always get the band that gives you the most credits. In UGX the bands start at:
- Starter: UGX 35 per segment, for top-ups under UGX 300,030
- Standard: UGX 30 per segment, for top-ups from UGX 300,030
- Business: UGX 25 per segment, for top-ups from UGX 2,500,025
- Enterprise: UGX 22 per segment, for top-ups from UGX 5,500,022
For example, a top-up of UGX 331,000 buys 11,033 credits at UGX 30 (Standard). Paying more never buys fewer credits. Very high-volume senders and resellers can ask for a contract rate.
How can I pay for credits?
Top up from your wallet with MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, or a Visa or Mastercard card. Credits are added as soon as the payment is confirmed.
Do I get receipts and invoices?
Yes. Every paid top-up has a printable receipt and a tax invoice (with 18% VAT shown) that you can download as a PDF from your wallet. Add your organisation's name, address and TIN in billing settings and they appear on every invoice.
What happens to messages that are not delivered?
Numbers that are invalid, opted out or on your suppression list are skipped before sending and never cost anything. Messages a network refuses when we submit them are refunded to your wallet automatically.
A message the network has accepted is billed, even if the phone stays off and the message later expires, because the network charges for it. Delivery reports show every message that did not arrive, and you can resend just those in one step.
